Sunday 24 March 2013

Yesterday:

We had a relatively quiet day, just had a short walk in the reserve during the morning. Then in the evening we had some entertainment at Church, with selections from some of the classics.
Hannah played the part of Ann in a scene from "Ann of Green Gables".

Then a a member gave a monologue "The worrier"

This was followed by some scenes from "Pride and Prejudice", linked by a narration from Ruth, which altogether summarised the story we are familiar with.

These were followed by an amusing sketch from Faulty Towers, in which the main guest has a hearing aid, but does not turn it on because that would drain the battery, and the resulting misunderstandings and calamities that inevitably follow.

After a break we saw some scenes from the musical "Annie", which summarised the story from the beginning in the orphanage to her adoption by Daddy Warbucks.

All in all it was a good evenings entertainment.

Today:

This Sunday at church was "Ice cream Sunday", that is when all the meetings have finished the members go into the hall and get a free ice cream, This is done once a month through the hot seasons. In the winter they have "Soup Sunday" once a month, when the members get a free cup of soup and a bread roll, and everyone has an opportunity just to talk together and catch up with what they have been doing.

Sounds like fun. Must be a big ward, or where there several wards involved? I don't remember anything quite so elaborate growing up.
